EXPERT SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSING DISEASES IN ORANGE, AND THE SOLUTIONS
Abstract
Orange is one fruit that most popular in the world. Citrus plants are often found in the
tropics. Banyuwangi is one of the citrus production centers in East Java. The citrus type
that cultivated is a sweet orange and become the remarkable product in the Banyuwangi.
Pests and diseases that attack citrus crops are highly variable so it needed an
agricultural consultant who can diagnose pest of citrus. However, the time and cost of the
reason for the citrus farmers for not consulting the experts so often goes wrong in
providing solutions to the handling of citrus plants are attacked by pests. To solve the
problem, then design an expert system diagnosis of plant pests and diseases of citrus in
which the system can diagnose pest of citrus plants to mimicking the workings of an
expert. The method used is a forward chaining method. This method is used in the
inference engine that processes the knowledge base into conclusions expected. The data
obtained in the symptoms data which is inputted by the user and then the data is
processed by the system. The results of data processing such as the type of pest of citrus
and handling solutions from each pest and disease based on symptoms inputted.
