Abstract

Technological developments nowdays do need the enormous energy.one of the most widely used energy is electricity which is formed from fossil materials, including diesel fuel. However, it will be drecreased sooner or later because of the continously use. Bangka Belitung Islands province also uses thos basic material although there is a potential renewable energy source to be developed, that is Wind. Wind turbines are windmills that are used to generate electricity. They supply more electricity for people by applying the principles of energy conversion and wind. One of wind turbine parts is blade. A research located in Bangka Belitung will carry out the calculation of the wind’s kinetic energy with the formula 2 (m for mass and v for velocity) and the ratio between generated power and wind power which is called the power coefficient (Cp) with the formula Cp =  The research will be continued to the simulation through MATLAB program in order to select not only the combination of blade length for 40 cm or 70 cm but also the member of blade as much as 3, 5 or 8 which generates the greatest power. The conclution of this research is by selecting the blade length of the 40 cm with the number of blade is 3, it will generate the greatest turbine’s power. The results will be used in a research about wind power plant based on permanent magnet for street lighting.
