Abstract

Conversion of lignocellulose materials into bioethanol receives important attention
because bioethanol can be used as fuel. One constraint in conversion to bioethanol is that
Lignocellulose is a very dense material, so in ordinary conditions it is inert and
impenetrable to water, even enzymes that require a pretreatment to open the dense
structure of the lignocellulose material so that water and cellulose enzymes can reach
cellulose so that bioethanol the resulting has a high quality. In this study conducted
pretreatment experiments. One of the pretreatment is by using a strong acid dilute
solution (chemical pretreatment material), in this case H2SO4. After that fermentation is
done for 32, 41, 48, 55 and 62 days. The fermentation results are then distilled. The
results showed that the longer the fermentation period, the less volume of distillation
produced.Furan-derived compounds and benzeneacetic aciddominate the distillation
product.
