Abstract

The purpose of this research look for gasoline engine optimization with a fuel mixture of LPG and bioethanol through valve adjustment of bioethanol flow, gas flow valve on converter kits and engine rotation.Automobile fuel system created with the concept of dual fuel, which allows the car can be operated with gasoline or LPG and bioethanol mixture alternately. This combination to get a cheaper operating costs and reduce exhaust emissions compared with gasoline. The object of this research is the engine of the Suzuki Ertiga Dreza K14B.Expected outcomes is a recommendation LPG and bioethanol engine tuning for optimum torque, optimum CO and HC optimum.

This study used an experimental method plots divided. Gas valve openings varied at 30%; 50%; and 70%.Bioethanol valve openings varied at 40%; 50%; and 60%. Engine rotation varied at 750 rpm; 2000 rpm; and 3000 rpm. With three variables and three levels sought the combination of emissions (CO, HC) and optimum torque.

Lowest CO emission obtained in 30% gas valve opening and the engine rotation 750 rpm.
Lowest HC emission obtained in 50% gas valve opening and the engine rotation 3000
rpm. Optimum torque is obtained at 50% gas valve opening and the engine rotation 3000
rpm. Meanwhile, the valve openings bioethanol does not have a significant effect.
