AN IDENTIFICATION OF GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATIONSYSTEM-BASED CRITICAL LANDS (A CASE STUDY OF BANJAR DISTRICT, SOUTH KALIMANTAN)

Abstract

The level of damage forests in South Kalimantan showed a very critical situation.
According to Antara news that critical land in Sultan Adam Forest Park reached 400 km2
from the total area is 1200 km2. Sultan Adam Forest Park head, Akhmad Ridhani, said
that Forest Park in the serious condition when  critical land area reaches 35% of the
total area. That outcome is the result of data collection from Karang Intan District,
Banjar City, in 2007 . This study aimed to identify the distribution of critical lands in the
Banjar City. The method used is the scoring analysis using Geographic Information
System. From this study, found that critical land in the District banjar by category Very
Critical reached 786 852 km2, Critical reached 1722,436 km2, Qiute Critical reached of
28,676 km2, Potential reached 1046,420 km2, and Not critical reached 771 907 km2.
Subdistrict Aranio has the most critical land reached 226 936 km2.
